After graduating high school, I was a little lost in what I wanted to do in life. I took an office job at a warranty company to have a source of income until I figured out what my next step was. Working typical 9-5 hours at a desk was a much different lifestyle than I was used to, as I had always had active jobs in the past. I played basketball most my life and was in decent shape, but it wasn’t long before I noticed drastic changes in my body. I started to gain body fat from sitting all day and not moving as much as I should. My food choices were reduced to ordering take out, getting fast food, and eating processed snacks from the vending machine. I repeated this routine for 4 years yet was still surprised by the toll it took on my body. My weight and body fat were at an all-time high, my basketball performance dropped substantially, but most importantly I was unhappy with myself.


 I knew something needed to change, so I started weight lifting with some friends at a local recreation center. It was a typical “cookie cutter” plan out of a fitness magazine, but I noticed positive changes in my body, performance, and health. These changes soon plateaued, but my desire to keep improving did not. Through much trial and error, I realized that without proper education and guidance in the gym and in the kitchen, I would fail to see progress. This sparked my desire to gain more knowledge about health and fitness and become a certified Personal Trainer.


I attended Heritage College in 2011 and graduated in 2012 with an Associate degree in Occupational Studies of Personal Training, as well as receiving my A.C.E. certification in Personal Training. During this time, I also completed a 3-month internship and worked for an additional 9 months with Concentra Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and worked to receive my certification with Precision Nutrition.  In 2017 I became certified as an Online Trainer. I did all this while still maintaining my office job, but the big change was I learned how to improve my body, even though I wasn’t in an active environment.  My education has not only allowed me to better myself, but also develop a passion for helping people who are struggling to stay in shape. I understand the 9-5 grind, the importance of maintaining a healthy body, and how to combine the two.
